Windows 7 update service not running

Your PC's Windows 7 update service not running? And not able to update your Windows 7 Computer?

Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.

Here are the solutions that you can follow to resolve this issue.

Many of the times you could not resolve the issue with just restarting the Windows update service and you have to take some of the steps to resolve this issue.

But still you can try to restart the service firstly to resolve windows update service not running issue.

To restart the service, just go to Run=> type Services.msc press enter key on your keyboard.

Find out Windows Update service. To find out Windows update service, you have to scroll down or press "W" key on your keyboard and cursor will go to all the services starting with "W".

Now, right click on the Windows update service and restart it. 

Delete Windows Update folder

In case of issue is not resolve even after restarting Windows update service, you have to follow delete or rename SoftwareDistribution folder.

To delete or rename the folder, stop the Windows update service from Services.msc.

Go to the path as below and rename the folder or delete all the contents of this folder as show in the print screen.
