In this step, as I am installing it only for demo purpose, I have selected only one volume. It totally depends upon your requirement. If the installation is for Domain Controller, I would suggest to create 3 volumes. C: System, D: Data, E: Backup.

Create volumes and click Next

Once you click Next installation process will start. Now have a break for a Cup of Coffee.

Installation process will hardly take 20 Minutes and server will reboot and will ask for Password reset. Change password as per your requirements. We normally use Standard password for first time Installation.

It’s time for basic server configuration, like Time settings, Network & Computer Name.

Time Zone: – It should be standard as per your organization architecture.

Network Settings: – You must have inventory for new & existing servers. So, NIC settings should have good IP, gateway, DNS IP address, WINS IP address if any.

Computer Name: – It should be according to Naming Convention.

After changing computer name OS reboot the server. Your basic server configuration is done. In Next article, we will promote server into Domain Controller.
